The City Boy Movement has denied having any relationship with Adepoju Babatunde Salako following reports linking him to the pro-Tinubu socio-political group over an alleged fraud conviction in the United States.
In a statement issued in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, the organisation described the claims connecting Salako to the movement as “false and misleading.”
According to the group, Salako has never been a registered member, official, coordinator, or representative of the movement at any level, including national, state, diaspora, or international structures.
The movement said the clarification became necessary after online publications and social media discussions allegedly attempted to associate Salako with the organisation in relation to criminal proceedings reportedly involving fraud offences in the United States.
“Mr. Adepoju Babatunde Salako is not a member of the City Boy Movement and has never held any office or official position within the structure of the movement,” the statement reportedly said.
The organisation further stated that Salako was never authorised to act on its behalf as a spokesperson, mobilisation officer, campaign official, or representative in the US or any other country.
The City Boy Movement also alleged that attempts to connect Salako to the group were politically motivated and aimed at damaging the image of support organisations aligned with President Bola Tinubu.
While distancing itself from the controversy, the group said it would not interfere in any ongoing legal proceedings involving Salako but insisted it would resist what it described as reputational manipulation and false attribution.
