The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reversed the outcome of the party’s House of Representatives primary election for the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency of Plateau State, declaring incumbent lawmaker Yusuf Adamu Gagdi as the winner.

The reversal followed controversy surrounding the earlier announcement of primary results, which had reportedly declared another aspirant as the winner of the exercise conducted ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a revised result issued by the APC Electoral Committee, Gagdi was confirmed as having secured the highest number of valid votes cast during the primary election. The committee stated that the earlier declaration was made in error and had since been corrected after proper collation and verification of results.

According to the updated figures, Gagdi polled 1,027 votes to defeat his closest challenger, who scored 353 votes in the direct primary election conducted across the constituency.

Speaking after the announcement, Gagdi thanked party members and supporters for their confidence in him, describing the outcome as a victory for democracy and grassroots participation. He also urged aggrieved aspirants and supporters to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

The lawmaker, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, has become one of the most prominent political figures from Plateau State in recent years and previously served as chairman of the House Committee on Navy.

The development has sparked mixed reactions among APC supporters in Plateau, with some party members welcoming the clarification while others questioned the circumstances surrounding the initial declaration.

Party officials, however, insisted that the corrected result reflected the true outcome of the election and urged members to focus on strengthening the APC ahead of the next general elections.
