Protesters on Wednesday stormed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja as part of a growing “Save Democracy” protest movement.

According to reports, the demonstrators gathered at the commission’s headquarters, chanting slogans and carrying placards expressing dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s electoral system and leadership.

Many of the protesters were seen wearing branded T-shirts and shouting phrases like “We no go gree”, while demanding reforms and, in some cases, calling for the removal of the INEC chairman.

The protest was described as loud but largely peaceful, with security personnel deployed around the premises to monitor the situation and prevent escalation. There were no immediate reports of violence or arrests at the time.

Reports also indicate that the demonstration is linked to a broader political mobilisation involving supporters of opposition figures and groups, as tensions ahead of the 2027 elections continue to build.
