The Nigeria Police Force in Lagos has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction and killing of a 17-year-old UTME candidate, identified as Thompson Adams, in the Ikorodu area.

The suspects, Elijah Emmanuel (23) and Tony Ogenata (21), were apprehended on April 27 following an intelligence-led operation, according to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai.

Police investigations revealed that the teenager was attacked while returning from writing the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on April 22.

Authorities said the suspects allegedly lured the victim, abducted him and later killed him, reportedly because he had identified one of them.

Further findings also linked the suspects to previous kidnapping and murder cases, including an earlier incident where a victim was killed after ransom was collected.

Police say the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded, as part of efforts to ensure justice for the victim.
