Fresh tensions have emerged in the Middle East after reports confirmed that Israel carried out strikes on Iran despite a newly announced ceasefire agreement.

A two-week ceasefire deal had been announced between the United States and Iran, with Israel also expected to pause military operations as part of efforts to de-escalate the ongoing conflict.

However, shortly after the announcement, Israeli forces reportedly continued airstrikes on Iranian targets, raising questions about the effectiveness and scope of the truce.

At the same time, Iran was said to have launched missile attacks in response, indicating that hostilities had not fully ceased despite diplomatic efforts.

Reports also suggest that:

  • The ceasefire is temporary (two weeks) and conditional
  • There are conflicting interpretations of what areas and actors it covers
  • Some fronts of the conflict, including regional operations, may not be fully included

The situation highlights the fragile nature of the agreement, with ongoing strikes and counterattacks showing that the ceasefire has not been fully implemented on the ground.
