U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that the ongoing war with Iran could be coming to an end “very soon,” but has not given a specific date or timeline for when hostilities will officially stop. He made the remarks during a news conference and interviews in Florida, a day after commenting that the U.S. military campaign had achieved “major strides” and was “very complete.”
Trump told reporters that while he believes the United States and its allies have degraded much of Iran’s military capability, the conflict will only end after U.S. objectives are met, and he did not outline a clear deadline. He said the U.S. was moving toward ending operations “soon,” but also indicated that more action might be necessary to achieve what he described as “ultimate victory.”
In remarks reported separately, Trump described the campaign as ahead of schedule and claimed Iran’s key defenses had been severely weakened, though he declined to offer a firm end date like “next week” or “in X days.”
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has responded by saying that Tehran will determine when the war ends, rejecting the notion that the United States controls the timetable.
