Suspected hoodlums on Saturday invaded the Ibadan residence of former Oyo State Deputy Governor, Hazeem Gbolarumi, vandalising vehicles and destroying other valuables during the attack.

The incident occurred in Ibadan North Local Government Area, where the attackers reportedly stormed the premises and damaged several cars and property worth millions of naira before leaving the scene.

According to reports, the attack is believed to be linked to rising political tensions in parts of Oyo State, particularly around activities related to party congresses and local political rivalries.

Security sources said the assailants carried out the attack in a coordinated manner, causing panic in the neighbourhood as residents watched property being destroyed inside the compound.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the incident and said investigations have begun to identify those responsible, adding that officers have been deployed to maintain order and prevent further disturbances.

Authorities also noted that similar disturbances were reported in some other areas of the state, including Ibadan and Ogbomoso, where clashes between rival groups reportedly led to injuries and property damage.

Police assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice, while urging the public to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist the investigation.
