British rapper and actor Ghetts whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel and who appeared in the Netflix series Supacell  has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for causing the death of a 20-year-old university student in a hit-and-run collision in London.

Clarke-Samuel pleaded guilty at London’s Old Bailey to causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the October 18, 2025 crash in Ilford, northeast London that killed Yubin Tamang, a Nepalese student who had come to the UK to study. CCTV footage presented in court showed the driver travelling at more than twice the 30 mph limit and failing to stop after the fatal impact; he was later disqualified from driving for 17 years in addition to his prison term.

The sentencing marks a dramatic fall for the 41-year-old artist, an award-winning grime musician and actor who had collaborated with major artists and gained critical acclaim before his conviction, including a role in the Netflix superhero series Supacell.

The victim, Tamang, died in hospital two days after the collision, and emotional statements from his family were read in court as part of the sentencing hearing. Prosecutors said alcohol and reckless speeding were contributing factors in the tragic crash.
