Six residents have been abducted by suspected bandits in separate overnight attacks on communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, security sources and local reports say.
The armed men reportedly struck Ahun, Oro‑Ago and Oyate villages during the early hours of Friday, shooting sporadically and abducting villagers before fleeing into nearby forested areas.
Among those kidnapped was a sawmill operator, Clement Emmanuel, and his apprentice, who were seized while working on farmlands. The kidnappers are said to have contacted the families, demanding a ransom of about ₦10 million for the release of one of the victims.
Residents said the attacks have heightened fear across the affected communities, prompting calls for intensified security patrols and swift action by security agencies to rescue the victims and prevent further incidents.
Security operatives were reported to have been deployed to the areas to begin search and rescue operations and improve patrol presence, although police have yet to issue an official public statement detailing the number of abducted victims or progress made.
