Police in Oyo State have rescued four passengers abducted by kidnappers along the Ibadan–Iseyin Road, the Oyo State Police Command says in a statement.
According to the command’s public relations officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, the victims were traveling in a commercial vehicle when they were intercepted and seized by suspected kidnappers early Saturday morning. Police responded swiftly after being alerted and tracked the abductors’ location, confronting them and freeing the four passengers unharmed.
The gang allegedly operated from a bushy area off the highway, but the combined efforts of patrol teams and tactical squads led to the successful rescue operation, with the suspects reportedly fleeing into the forest.
Osifeso said the command has mounted increased patrols along major highways in the state to prevent repeat attacks and urged motorists to report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
