The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of a four-year-old boy in Numan Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the child’s father, Umar Ibrahim, a resident of Ngballang village in Numan, reported the incident after his son, identified as Ramadan, went out to play on March 1, 2026, but failed to return home. The family initially searched for the boy but could not locate him.
A few days later, the father reportedly received a phone call from an unknown number informing him that his son had been kidnapped. The caller demanded a ransom of ₦800,000 for the child’s release.
Following the report, police operatives attached to the Numan Division launched an investigation which led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Sadiq Ali (19) and Shitu Umar (23). Both suspects are residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Police spokesman SP Suleiman Nguroje said the suspects confessed during interrogation, admitting their involvement in what authorities described as an organised kidnapping operation.
The case has now been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command for further investigation and possible prosecution. The police also assured residents that they remain committed to protecting lives and property while urging members of the public to report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to ensure justice is served and to strengthen security measures against kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
