The Lagos State Police Command has arrested additional suspects in connection with the killing of Prince Ademola Akinloye, the son of the Ajiran of Agungi, Oba Tijani Akinloye.

Prince Akinloye was reportedly shot and butchered by gunmen along Chevron Drive near Ebeano Supermarket in the Agungi area of Lagos on August 26, 2024, a crime that triggered widespread outrage in the community.

Police had earlier arrested nine suspects following intelligence gathering that linked them to the killing. However, the state Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, said investigators have now apprehended more suspects who allegedly made confessional statements about their roles in the murder.

The police chief did not reveal the exact number of the newly arrested suspects but assured that the command remains committed to unraveling the circumstances surrounding the crime.

Jimoh added that security operatives are still searching for the prime suspect, Ahmad Akanbi, who has been declared wanted over his alleged involvement in the killing.

Meanwhile, the Ojomu Royal Family of Ajiran said it is closely following the investigation to ensure that those responsible for the killings are brought to justice and that residents of the community can live without fear.
