The Kwara State Police Command says it has arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly killing his guardian inside their house in Ilorin, Kwara State, during the weekend.
According to the police, the suspect identified only by his initials allegedly attacked his guardian after an argument, inflicting fatal injuries. The victim was reportedly rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ajayi Okasanmi, said detectives from the Homicide Section of the Command swung into action following the murder report and arrested the teenager at the scene.
While the motive is still under investigation, the police said the suspect would be charged in court in accordance with the law after completion of the preliminary probe, and that the command would ensure the matter is handled sensitively given the suspect’s age.
Police urged parents and guardians to monitor their wards closely and help curb the rising incidents of domestic violence and youth-involved crimes.
