An explosion was reported over or near Dubai International Airport (DXB) in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, prompting a temporary suspension of flight operations and passenger sheltering as authorities responded to the incident amid escalating regional tensions.

Eyewitnesses and media reports said loud explosions were heard over the airport, with smoke seen in the sky and some passengers evacuated to safer areas within the terminal. Airlines including Emirates temporarily suspended flights to and from the airport as a precaution.

Dubai authorities later clarified that the disruption was linked to falling debris following an aerial interception amid ongoing conflict between Iran and US-Israeli forces in the region, describing it as a minor, contained event that posed no direct threat to the public. There was no immediate confirmation of casualties from the official statement, and airport operations resumed after safety checks.

The incident came against a backdrop of broader conflict in the Gulf, with multiple explosions reported in Dubai and neighbouring states as the crisis continues to affect civil aviation and regional security.
