Vice-President Kashim Shettima says the Federal Government has deployed additional tactical assets and intelligence-driven reinforcements to areas affected by the recent insurgent attacks in Borno State.
Shettima disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, stressing that President Bola Tinubu had been fully briefed on the situation and had ordered the swift mobilisation of Nigeria’s security architecture to tackle the renewed insurgent activities.
According to the vice-president, the deployment of additional forces and intelligence resources is aimed at strengthening military operations, protecting vulnerable communities and tracking down the attackers responsible for the violence in the North-East.
He emphasised that the federal government would not allow terrorists to occupy any part of Nigerian territory or destabilise communities through attacks and abductions.
Shettima also assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration remains committed to protecting lives and property, vowing that the perpetrators of the attacks would face the full weight of the law.
The vice-president expressed sympathy for families affected by the violence and paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives while defending the country, describing their sacrifice as a reminder of the ongoing fight against insurgency.
He further commended the Borno State Government and residents for their resilience despite the persistent security challenges and praised the efforts of troops currently battling insurgents on the frontlines.
The federal government reiterated that the fight against insurgency remains a top priority, adding that security forces will continue intensified operations until lasting peace is restored in the region.
