Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has issued a stern warning to political leaders, including governors, senators, and lawmakers, over their support for individuals he described as “betrayers,” cautioning that such alliances will eventually backfire.

Speaking on Saturday in Port Harcourt during the commissioning of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ headquarters, Wike said those who back disloyal figures risk being betrayed themselves. “Whoever is watching this — whether you are a senator, a member of the House, a minister, or a governor — if you support betrayers, people will continue to betray you,” he said. “Whatever you plant, you will reap.”

The warning is widely seen as a reference to politicians supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara, whose alignment with Wike’s political opponents has deepened divisions within the state’s political landscape. Wike stressed that leaders attempting to install successors or endorse disloyal figures are likely to face political setbacks and betrayal in return.

He added: “For every governor seeking a second term who supports betrayal, you will never survive it. You will reap the seed you planted.”

The statement comes amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State following Fubara’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which has intensified rivalries within the state and attracted nationwide attention.
