A tragic traffic disaster occurred on Monday morning at Badagry Roundabout in Lagos State, when a **cement-laden truck lost control and ploughed into a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officer and two motorcyclists, killing all three instantly.
The incident happened at about 9:45 a.m. as the truck approached the busy roundabout. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle suddenly veered off course and struck the traffic official who was on duty, along with two commercial motorbike riders who were waiting for passengers at the junction.
An official from the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps said the driver tried to steer the truck to minimise the impact, stressing that “otherwise many more motorcyclists and vehicles would have been affected”.
Emergency responders and security operatives quickly arrived at the scene to cordon off the area and restore order. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), LASTMA and police personnel worked to clear the wreckage and manage traffic flow following the crash.
The driver of the truck was reportedly taken into custody by police after the crash, and the vehicle was impounded for further investigation.
The deaths have sent shockwaves through the Badagry community, renewing concerns about road safety and the enforcement of traffic regulations along key junctions in Lagos State. Authorities are expected to release more details as investigations continue.
