Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has criticised President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a “dwarf” in Nigeria’s political history and arguing that he should not be ranked among the country’s most influential leaders.

Dalung made the remark during a television interview, where he dismissed the portrayal of Tinubu as a political heavyweight. According to him, political greatness should be measured by legacy, governance outcomes and service to the people, rather than political strategy or influence alone.

He compared the president with past national figures such as Sir Ahmadu Bello and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, insisting that Tinubu’s record does not place him in the same category. Dalung further argued that the president has failed to translate his political skills into tangible improvements in security, the economy and citizens’ welfare.

The former minister also accused the current administration of presiding over worsening economic conditions and insecurity, questioning the impact of Tinubu’s leadership on ordinary Nigerians.

Dalung, now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the opposition remains confident it can challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the next general election.
