President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted an invitation from King Charles III to pay a state visit to the United Kingdom in March, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
The visit, scheduled for March 18 and 19, will see President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle. It is expected to feature full state honours and high-level engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the UK.
Officials said the visit will focus on deepening cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, security, climate action and cultural ties. It also marks a significant diplomatic moment, as it will be the first full state visit by a Nigerian president to the UK in decades.
State visits are the highest form of diplomatic engagement between countries and typically include formal ceremonies, meetings with senior government officials and discussions on shared priorities. Further details of the programme are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
