Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has publicly explained his $130,000 monthly salary demand amid contract renegotiations with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), stressing that the figure is in dollars and intended to cover his technical staff, while dismissing rumours that he has threatened to leave his role.

Chelle said his request a significant increase from his current $50,000-per-month pay  is aimed at improving his working conditions and ensuring he can bring in and compensate a full coaching team properly. He clarified that he remains committed to the Super Eagles, with one year left on his contract, and denied any intention to quit or link his demands to exit threats, calling such reports inaccurate.

Speaking on the Histoires de Foot podcast, the Malian tactician also refuted claims that he had sought or was about to take a job with French club Olympique de Marseille, saying all such suggestions were unfounded.

Chelle’s remarks come amid ongoing negotiations with the NFF, which has yet to officially approve his proposed terms. Supporters and critics alike have reacted to the salary debate, but his clarification aims to quell speculation about instability in the national team’s leadership.
