President Bola Ahmed Tinubu embarked on a working visit to Kebbi State on Saturday, 14 February 2026, where he inaugurated key development projects and served as the Special Guest of Honour at the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.

The visit saw Tinubu commissioning a range of federal and state-backed initiatives aimed at boosting infrastructure, agriculture, and community development in the region. Projects reportedly include road rehabilitation, water and irrigation facilities, market and micro-enterprise support, and health and education centres, all designed to enhance livelihoods and economic opportunities for residents of Kebbi State.

Tinubu’s visit also coincided with the Argungu Festival, a centuries-old cultural and sporting event held along the Matan Fada riverside. The festival, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, draws thousands of participants and spectators, showcasing traditional fishing competitions, boat races, music, dance, and cultural exhibitions. The President’s presence highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting cultural tourism and supporting local economies linked to traditional festivals.

During the festival, Tinubu interacted with community leaders, artisans, fishermen, and festival organisers, emphasizing the importance of federal-state collaboration in promoting tourism, heritage conservation, and youth empowerment. Local officials described his visit as a major morale boost, encouraging investment and greater participation in cultural and economic initiatives across Kebbi State.

Observers noted that the President’s active participation in both the project inaugurations and the festival underscores his administration’s approach to integrating development with cultural promotion, while reinforcing national unity and celebrating Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

The President returned to Abuja later in the day, concluding a successful and high-profile visit that combined governance, economic development, and cultural diplomacy.
