The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction of a school proprietor in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation following a violent attack carried out by armed men in the Ilu-Abo community, where residents were reportedly assaulted and one person was kidnapped. The incident triggered heightened security operations across the area.
Police spokesperson DSP Abayomi Jimoh said the arrests were made after officers acted on credible intelligence, describing the development as a major breakthrough in efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks operating within the state. He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement and to track down other members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the officers involved and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes. He also urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
