The Performing Musicians’ Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has commenced a nationwide update of its national database as part of preparations for the verification of beneficiaries for the ongoing Copyright Levy disbursement.

In a notice issued to musicians across the country, PMAN called on all its members to promptly complete the Copy Levy Beneficiary Verification Form in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria Ltd/Gte (MCSN) on July 1, 2020. The association said the exercise is aimed at confirming eligible beneficiaries and ensuring that the disbursement process is transparent and credible.

PMAN noted that the initiative is being driven by the leadership of its president, Pretty Okafor, as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the rights and welfare of performing musicians nationwide. Members were advised to provide accurate personal and professional details, including their state of origin, local government area, valid means of identification, proof of musical work and bank account details where applicable.

The association stressed that the verification process is completely free and warned members against paying any individual or agent. PMAN added that false information or multiple submissions would lead to automatic disqualification from the beneficiary list.

According to PMAN, timely completion of the verification form is crucial for musicians seeking to qualify for the first tranche of the Copyright Levy disbursement. The association encouraged members to act quickly to secure their eligibility.

PMAN also provided a dedicated support email to assist members who may require further clarification during the verification process, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and the fair distribution of copyright-related earnings to performing musicians across Nigeria.
