A 42-year-old Nigerian, Omorigo Friday, has been arrested in Pilerne, North Goa, India, for allegedly possessing and attempting to peddle cocaine, according to the Goa Police Crime Branch.

During a raid on Friday’s residence, officers recovered 31.794 grams of suspected high-grade cocaine, valued at approximately ₹15.89 lakh (around ₦15–20 million on the international market). The seizure is part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking networks operating in the region.

Following his arrest, Friday was interrogated, and police say his statements led them to arrest a suspected accomplice, 42-year-old Sudhir Paleinkar, a local resident of Sangolda, North Goa. Both men remain in custody as authorities probe the source of the narcotics and any links to broader drug distribution operations across India and internationally.

The suspects are expected to face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which prescribes severe penalties, including long-term imprisonment, for possession, sale, and distribution of illegal drugs.

Police officials have stressed that the arrest highlights Goa’s commitment to curbing narcotics trafficking in the state, especially involving foreign nationals, and warned that investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals involved in the network.
