The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a new drug-smuggling method after intercepting methamphetamine concealed inside yogurt packs and MP3 players during an operation in Lagos.
The discovery was disclosed by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who shared video evidence showing how traffickers carefully repackaged the yogurt products and modified electronic gadgets to hide the illicit drugs. According to the NDLEA, the concealment was designed to evade routine security checks and enable easy distribution.
Babafemi warned members of the public to exercise caution when asked to carry or receive parcels on behalf of others, noting that traffickers increasingly exploit unsuspecting individuals to move drugs. He stressed that refusing to transport unverified items could help prevent innocent people from being implicated in drug trafficking.
The NDLEA said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the attempt, adding that the seized drugs and concealment devices will serve as evidence for prosecution.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to staying ahead of evolving drug-smuggling tactics and intensifying efforts to dismantle trafficking networks across the country.
