A man has fled his home after allegedly stabbing his 23-year-old son to death in Delta State, authorities and local sources say.
The incident reportedly occurred late Saturday night in Koko community, Warri North Local Government Area. Police and neighbours said the suspect, identified only as Mr. Igbide, became involved in a heated argument with his son, Mr. Igbide Jr., over a domestic dispute.
Witnesses told reporters that the father and son were engaged in a serious disagreement that escalated quickly, leading to the father allegedly pulling out a knife and stabbing his son multiple times. The younger man was said to have died instantly from the injuries.
Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene and has been on the run, with residents and police searching for him. The body of the deceased has been taken to a hospital morgue pending autopsy and formal identification.
Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident and said an investigation is underway. A police spokesperson stated that officers have launched a manhunt for the suspect and urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
Community members expressed shock and sadness over the tragedy, calling for swift arrest and justice for the victim.
