Gombe State has ushered in a new phase in its civil service leadership following the appointment of Professor Muazu Shehu as the new Head of Civil Service. The announcement was made by the state government after the retirement of the immediate past Head of Service, Ahmed Abdullahi, who concluded his tenure upon reaching the mandatory 35 years in service.
The appointment, approved by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, takes immediate effect. According to an official statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Njodi, Professor Shehu brings a wealth of experience from both academia and public administration, positioning him to steer the state’s civil service toward greater efficiency and reform.
Governor Yahaya expressed confidence in the new Head of Service’s ability to strengthen institutional structures and sustain ongoing reforms within the state bureaucracy. The civil service plays a critical role in implementing government policies, and the administration has repeatedly emphasised its commitment to improving service delivery and professionalism across ministries, departments, and agencies.
With Professor Shehu now at the helm, expectations are high that the state’s administrative machinery will continue evolving to meet modern governance demands while ensuring effective policy execution for the benefit of Gombe residents.
