The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken steps to deepen its diplomatic and strategic relations with Palestine and Saudi Arabia, reinforcing the country’s commitment to international cooperation and citizen welfare abroad.
In Abuja, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, met with Ambassador Muhannad Halmouri of Palestine to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations, address consular and humanitarian issues, and support ongoing peace initiatives in the Middle East. Nigeria reiterated its long-standing support for Palestinian statehood and the peaceful resolution of regional conflicts.
The Minister also hosted Dr Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Rabia, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah Matters. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in pilgrimage management, improving consular services for Nigerian pilgrims, and fostering stronger people-to-people ties between the two nations. Both sides affirmed their commitment to long-term collaboration rooted in shared faith and mutual respect.
Analysts note that these engagements reflect Nigeria’s broader foreign policy goal: to strengthen international partnerships that advance economic cooperation, citizen welfare, and regional peace. By reinforcing ties with Palestine and Saudi Arabia, Nigeria is expanding its diplomatic footprint while deepening cooperation on areas of mutual interest, from cultural exchanges to consular services and strategic collaboration.
