Voting has commenced at Polling Unit 16 in Kubwa, as residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) participate in the ongoing Area Council elections.

Electoral officials arrived early at the polling unit to set up materials and begin accreditation using the Bi-Modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). After the necessary preparations were completed, voting officially started, with eligible voters presenting themselves for verification before casting their ballots.

Party agents from participating political parties were also present to monitor the process, ensuring transparency and compliance with electoral guidelines. Security personnel were deployed around the polling unit to maintain order and provide a safe environment for voters.

The election is being conducted across the six area councils of the FCT Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali, and Abaji  where voters are choosing chairmanship and councillorship candidates.

Residents expressed optimism about the process, noting the importance of grassroots leadership in driving community development. Electoral officials have urged voters to remain orderly, follow procedures, and cooperate with staff to ensure a smooth and peaceful exercise throughout the day.

Voting is expected to continue until the official closing time announced by the electoral commission.
