The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has issued a stern warning to its staff that corruption, misconduct, and abuse of office will not be tolerated, reinforcing its commitment to integrity, accountability, and ethical public service.
In a circular released by the Commission’s leadership, the FCC emphasised that all employees are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and discipline while carrying out their duties. The directive makes clear that any staff found engaging in corrupt practices, misuse of official resources, fraudulent conduct, or behaviour that undermines the Commission’s mandate will face appropriate disciplinary action, which may include suspension, dismissal, and referral to law enforcement agencies.
The FCC’s statement highlights its renewed focus on internal controls, compliance with transparency frameworks, and strict adherence to the provisions of the Federal Character Act and other relevant public service regulations. The Commission said it has strengthened internal monitoring mechanisms to detect and address violations at the earliest stage.
Officials noted that the warning aligns with ongoing national efforts to curb corruption across government agencies and to promote a culture of accountability in public institutions. The FCC said this approach is necessary to preserve public trust and ensure that its operations particularly in the areas of employment equity, federal appointments, and representation across Nigeria’s diverse states and regions are conducted fairly and without impropriety.
The Commission called on staff to report any observed misconduct through established internal channels and assured that whistleblowers will be protected in accordance with policy.
