China has rejected claims by the United States that it carried out secret nuclear explosive tests, describing the allegations as baseless and false.
Responding to the accusations, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Beijing remains firmly opposed to nuclear testing and has no intention of conducting such tests. Chinese officials accused the US of spreading misinformation to justify its own actions and create tension in global arms control discussions.
The US had alleged that China may have conducted covert nuclear tests and raised concerns over transparency in Beijing’s nuclear programme. However, China maintained that its nuclear policy is defensive in nature and fully consistent with international obligations.
The dispute comes amid growing uncertainty in global arms control following the expiration of key nuclear agreements, with tensions rising among major nuclear powers over future frameworks to limit nuclear weapons development.
