A China-based businessman and two Angolan nationals have been arrested after security operatives intercepted them with 236 wraps of cocaine, authorities confirmed.

According to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated anti-narcotics operation following intelligence reports about an attempted drug trafficking movement.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the cocaine  carefully packaged in 236 individual wraps was allegedly intended for distribution across international and domestic networks. The agency did not immediately disclose the exact weight of the narcotics but described the seizure as “significant.”

The businessman, who reportedly operates between China and Nigeria, was arrested alongside the two Angolans during the sting operation. Authorities said the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations aimed at dismantling the wider trafficking syndicate.

NDLEA officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying surveillance at airports, seaports, and land borders, warning that Nigeria will not serve as a transit or destination hub for illicit drugs.

The suspects are expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.
