The spokesperson to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, has threatened legal action against the CEO of Sally Tibbot, Sa’adat Bakrin-Ottun, accusing her of unlawfully recording and circulating a private phone conversation involving the governor’s Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye, and sharing it publicly.

Rasheed said the audio clip — which was played on television and shared widely on social media — was recorded without authorisation and aimed at maligning and character-assassinating the Chief of Staff amid an ongoing dispute over a payroll audit contract. He described the act as a breach of cybercrime and data protection laws and warned that court papers would soon be served.

The controversy stems from a disagreement between the Osun State Government and the payroll consultancy over the implementation of an audit report, with Bakrin-Ottun alleging irregularities and fraud linked to the state’s cancellation of her firm’s findings. The government, however, maintains its actions were lawful and in the public interest.

Rasheed maintained that Governor Adeleke and his Chief of Staff acted within legal boundaries in handling the audit matter, and urged the consultant to submit any further evidence to anti-graft agencies rather than engaging in what he called a “media trial.”
