A 17-year-old Senior Secondary School 3 (SS3) student, identified as Hassan Ahmadu, has died after he was allegedly assaulted by his classmates at the Government Science and Technical College, Potiskum, in Yobe State.
The incident reportedly occurred within the school premises following what sources described as prolonged bullying by some students. Hassan was said to have confronted his classmates and asked them to stop harassing him, but the situation escalated into a violent attack during which he sustained serious injuries.
He was later confirmed dead and buried the same day in his hometown of Gadaka, Fika Local Government Area.
The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death. Police said students suspected to be involved have been taken into custody for questioning.
School authorities have also pledged to cooperate fully with security agencies as calls grow for justice and stronger measures against bullying in schools across the state.
