Vice‑President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated 133 completed housing units in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, providing much‑needed homes for residents displaced by past crises. The event, which took place on Friday, also featured the opening of new educational facilities and basic infrastructure within the resettlement community.

The housing project is part of the federal government’s Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC), aimed at rebuilding communities affected by disasters and insecurity. Tudun Biri was among the communities devastated by a tragic incident in December 2023, when an accidental drone strike resulted in the loss of lives and destruction of homes. The project was launched following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to restore and improve living conditions for affected residents.

Initially planned to include 143 housing units, the scheme now features 133 homes, with 10 units repurposed into classrooms to cater to the educational needs of children in the community. During the commissioning, Shettima highlighted the government’s commitment to people‑centered recovery, emphasizing that the project represents a step toward restoring stability, rebuilding livelihoods, and ensuring long-term peace in the region.

Shettima also recalled his earlier visits to the community, noting that the federal government acted swiftly to address the needs of the displaced residents. Officials confirmed that similar resettlement projects are underway in other states affected by conflict, including Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, Katsina, and Benue.

Beneficiaries of the Tudun Biri project expressed gratitude to the federal government for completing the housing units and providing modern facilities, describing the initiative as a significant boost to their safety, well-being, and sense of hope for the future.
