The Ogun State Governor has honoured outstanding academic achievement at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) by awarding ₦8.5 million in scholarships and cash prizes to the top graduating students of the institution’s 2025/2026 academic session.

Governor Dapo Abiodun presented the awards during the university’s convocation ceremony, celebrating students who excelled academically across various faculties. The incentives were given as part of the state government’s continued support for education and its commitment to rewarding excellence among young scholars.

In his remarks at the event, Governor Abiodun praised the awardees for their hard work, discipline, and academic dedication. He urged them to use their knowledge and values gained at OOU to contribute positively to society and drive transformational growth in Nigeria and beyond.

The government also encouraged other students to strive for academic excellence, stressing that education remains a powerful tool for individual empowerment and national development. Officials said the ₦8.5 million awards are part of broader efforts to promote quality education, spur innovation, and support young talents in Ogun State.

Parents, lecturers, and community leaders at the ceremony lauded the governor’s initiative, noting that recognising high-achieving students not only motivates recipients but also inspires peers to pursue their studies with greater zeal.
