The Performing Musicians
Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has moved to dispel misinformation
about an alleged “takeover” of its Monaco site in Abuja, affirming that the
property remains under PMAN’s ownership and control. The association also provided
updates on ongoing police investigations into unauthorised land sales and
related criminal allegations.
According to PMAN, the confusion
began after the association erected a caution sign at the Monaco site, urging
anyone who bought plots or units from Olusco Heritage & Investment Ltd
(“Olusco”) to come forward. Since then, several individuals have reached out
claiming to have made purchases through Olusco—confirming PMAN’s long-held
fears of unauthorised sales allegedly orchestrated by Mr. Boniface Itodo, Mr.
Zakky Azzay, and, more recently, Mr. Fruitful Mekwunye.
PMAN stressed that the matter is
not about union politics but a serious criminal case under investigation.
Petitions submitted to law enforcement allege that Olusco collected over
₦350,000,000.00 from G & D Building & Engineering Ltd. and induced
further expenditure exceeding ₦1.5 billion on the site through
misrepresentation and fraudulent claims of authority by individuals who had
been dismissed or suspended from PMAN roles at the time.
Earlier today, tensions escalated
when video footage captured Mr. Oluwafemi Olumeyan (Olusco) and Mr. Itodo
arriving at the site with a group of people, including women and children, who
were allegedly used as human shields, before tearing down PMAN’s caution
notice. Police officers intervened promptly to prevent violence and restore
order. Plain-clothed officers who approached to arrest Mr. Olumeyan reported
that he and others fled, with one vehicle nearly hitting a police officer
during their escape.
PMAN reiterated that there was no
“takeover” and that police presence was solely for lawful crowd control. The
association has reinstalled its caution sign and assured stakeholders that the
site remains secure.
The statement further revealed
that Mr. Olumeyan has repeatedly ignored police invitations while filing a
Fundamental Rights action against the Police and Mr. Olayinka Alade (MD, G
& D), a move PMAN sees as an attempt to delay justice. PMAN urged him to
cooperate with investigators and desist from putting women and children in
harm’s way.
PMAN cited a Police Investigation
Report from the IGP Monitoring Unit confirming a prima facie case of obtaining
by false pretences, cheating, threats, violence, assault causing harm, and
conduct likely to breach public peace. The association pledged to continue
supporting law enforcement with documentation, videos, and witness testimony
until those responsible are held accountable.
Reaffirming its legal ownership
of the Monaco site, PMAN warned that any transaction executed without its
written approval is void. Purchasers were urged to submit proof of payment,
offer letters, receipts, and other supporting documents to aid verification and
potential recovery efforts.
PMAN concluded by thanking the
Nigeria Police Force for swiftly de-escalating the incident and protecting
public order, promising to keep regulators, stakeholders, and credible media
briefed with certified evidence, including video stills and investigation
reports.
