IT IS JUST A TRADITIONAL WAKE UP CALL
The Royal Palace of His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin Abimbola Akeem Owoade, wishes to address and clarify matters concerning the public decorum expected of all members of the royal household, particularly our esteemed Olori.
In recent times, certain public gestures — including placing hands on the shoulders of the Alaafin or assuming overly casual poses in photographs — have been observed and brought to my attention, Erelu Oodua Mabel Tinuade Onaneye to address thus manner.
While such actions may be common in modern society, they are considered culturally improper and a direct deviation from the sacred customs of our revered monarchy. The Alaafin is not only a royal leader but the living embodiment of ancestral dignity, spiritual authority, and the sacred traditions of our forefathers.
Therefore I remind all members of the royal household, especially Her Majesty the Olori, of the following:
Public intimacy or casual gestures involving the Alaafin, including placing hands on his person, is prohibited under traditional norms;
The image and posture of the Alaafin must always reflect sacred reverence and superiority in both public appearances and photography;
All media and photographic representations involving the royal family must be guided by the Palace Protocol Office and in alignment with Yoruba royal customs.
This statement is not issued in condemnation, but as a guardrail to uphold the sanctity, prestige, and spiritual essence of the Alaafin’s throne — an institution cherished by generations.
Let it be known that our culture is our pride, and our traditions must never be diluted or dishonored, no matter the influence of modern trends. "A kin se oyinbo". Even the Oyinbo Royals will not display this in the public eyes.
May the reign of His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin Abimbola Akeem Owoade, continue to be long, prosperous, and honorable.
