A married woman identified as Oluchi has been found in a hotel in Delta State after allegedly staging her own kidnapping and demanding a ₦50 million ransom from her family.
According to reports, Oluchi’s family had informed the police that she was abducted in the Ikpoba Hill area of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State. During the period she was believed to be missing, her children—including a daughter based in Canada—appealed to the public for help in raising ransom money. The supposed kidnappers reportedly reduced their demand from ₦50 million to ₦20 million.
However, police investigations uncovered inconsistencies in the case. Detectives traced a phone number linked to the ransom demand to a hotel in Ubiaroko, Delta State, where they found Oluchi in the company of a man alleged to be her lover.
Sources said the woman’s husband was later informed of the discovery. Reports indicate that Oluchi pleaded with her husband not to reveal the circumstances of the incident to their children.
The case has generated widespread reaction because relatives and friends had been actively raising funds and seeking public support for what they believed was a genuine kidnapping. Oluchi’s daughter described the development
