President Bola Tinubu on Monday officially swore in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The ceremony was attended by family members, senior government officials, and cabinet members.

The appointments followed the resignation of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and former Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.

Tegbe, an engineer and policy strategist from Oyo State, brings more than three decades of experience in public and private sector reforms. Before his appointment, he was known for his work in fiscal policy, institutional reform, and stakeholder engagement.

Enikanolaiye, a career diplomat from Kogi State, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. He has spent about 35 years in Nigeria’s foreign service and now takes over the position of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Both ministers were nominated by President Tinubu in May and subsequently cleared by the Senate before taking the oath of office. Their appointments are part of recent changes in the Federal Executive Council as the administration fills vacancies created by resignations and political transitions.

The swearing-in comes at a time when the government is focusing on key challenges in the power sector and Nigeria’s foreign relations, areas that will now fall under the oversight of the newly appointed ministers.
