The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed 18 warehouses in Niger State over the storage and distribution of expired food and pharmaceutical products.

According to officials, the enforcement exercise was carried out as part of routine surveillance operations aimed at safeguarding public health and eliminating substandard goods from circulation. During the raid, large quantities of expired consumables and medical products were reportedly discovered in the affected warehouses.

NAFDAC authorities said the owners of the facilities will face further investigation and possible prosecution in line with Nigeria’s regulatory laws. The agency reiterated that the sale or distribution of expired products poses serious health risks to consumers and will not be tolerated.

Officials emphasized that the crackdown is part of a broader nationwide effort to sanitize markets and storage facilities, particularly in states where reports of counterfeit and expired goods have been on the rise.

Residents and traders in the area have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious products to authorities. NAFDAC also advised consumers to always check expiry dates and product registration numbers before purchasing food, drugs, or other regulated items.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health and warned that similar enforcement operations will continue across the country to deter violators and ensure compliance with safety standards.
